What’s the Cost of a Party Tent Rental on the South Shore?
Wondering what it really costs to rent a tent in Massachusetts? Prices can vary based on the tent type, guest count, setup surface, and how you plan to use the space. Here’s a breakdown to help you plan the right setup for your event — without overspending.
Factors That Can Affect the Cost of a Tent Rental
The cost to rent a tent can vary based on a few things such as:
- Type of Tent
- Pole Tents (Low Range)
- Frame Tents / High Peak Frame Tents (Mid Range)
- Sail Cloth Tents / Structure Tents (High Range)
- Number of Guests
- Tent Usage
- Seated Events
- Open Flow Events
- Events with a Dance Floor
- Tent Setup
- Grass (allows staking)
- Concrete/Patio (requires ballasts)
In the case of patios or concrete, you'll likely need water barrel ballasts to secure the tent instead of ground stakes. That said, some companies — like us — can often help you save money by checking if we can stake into nearby mulch or grass.
To make things easier, we offer free measurements using our software app. If needed, we can schedule a site visit for a small fee to scope out the area and help you avoid unnecessary setup costs.
Assuming you have a clear, level spot on grass without needing ballasts, tent pricing is usually very straightforward.
Average Tent Rental Costs for a Tent Alone
So let’s talk numbers. Just to rent a tent without any accessories, you’re looking at a range from $400 to $1300 or for really high end $5000 or more!
It really depends on what you’re getting — a simple pole tent for a handful of guests, or something more elevated like our 20x40 High Peak Frame Tent, which looks incredible and makes a big impact.
From there, you can move up to something even larger, like our modular setups that mimic large structure tents or even resemble sailcloth tent layouts at a fraction of the cost.
Some other places offer true sailcloth tents or large structure-style tents, which tend to cost more, but for now, let’s focus on the average backyard party. We’ll talk more about our larger tent options further down — so if you’re interested, keep scrolling!
Tent Rental Pricing by Guest Count
Most parties we help with fall in the 40–80 guest range. While there can be some variables, you'll usually need tables and chairs. We include setup, taxes, and delivery (within 30 miles of Quincy, MA) in all our Tent & Party Packages, so pricing is always easy to understand.
Many customers customize their package by adding a dance floor or expanding the tent layout. But the following packages give you a great starting point:

40 Person Package – $850 to $1000
Our 40 Person Package doesn’t include extra space for a dance floor or DJ section,
but it’s perfect for smaller gatherings. We still include lighting and sidewalls if needed (sidewalls cannot be installed on concrete or patios for safety reasons — see our Terms).
The 20x20 High Peak Frame Tent provides enough space for guests and serving tables along the edges. If it’s nice out, you can always place the serving tables just outside the tent for extra room.
60 Person Party Package – $1500 to $1750
The 60 Person Package is a great step up from the 40 person package and our mid range option. It includes the 20x40 High Peak Frame Tent, which fits 60 guests and leaves space for a bar or serving tables.
This is the same size we use for our 80-person package, so you’ve got lots of flexibility. Like all our packages, when set up on grass, this includes lighting and sidewalls at no extra cost — most companies charge an additional $100–$200 for these features.
80 Person Package – $1600 to $1850
The 80 person Package is a great fit if you want to maximize the tent space. There’s room for all your guests, plus serving tables. If you want a more open layout or are planning for more than 80 guests, we can add extra tent sections to expand the structure.
Lighting and sidewalls are included in this price when installed on grass. (Note: sidewalls cannot be installed on pavement — see Terms). And of course, our pricing always includes delivery and setup — no hidden fees. We can’t speak for how other companies handle it.
Total Package Summary
With seating, serving tables, lighting, and sidewalls included and delivery/taxes already built into the price most people spend between $850 and $1850 for a 40–80 guest event.
We know a lot of companies tack on delivery or labor after the fact, but we’re upfront about everything. What you see is what you pay.
Industry Price Comparison
We do our best to keep prices as low as possible while still delivering high end tents and clean, quality gear. Some companies use lower-grade materials or charge separately for every add on, which can inflate the price quickly.
Here’s what we’ve seen across the industry and how we compare:
Package | Typical Industry Range | Our Price |
---|---|---|
40 Guests (with linens) | $600 – $1100 | $850–$1000 |
60 Guests (with linens) | $1000 – $1900 | $1500–$1750 |
80 Guests (with linens) | $1100 – $2000 | $1600–$1850 |
