 History of Quincy Massachusetts  AKA “Granite City”

We are proud to call Quincy our Home Town! Quincys Granite history goes back to the  early days of what was known as “granite city”. Many of the local architecture like the original Quincy Town Hall and local churches were built from Quincy granite as well as famous monuments like the Bunker Hill Monument all obtained from the quincy quarries.

Quincys granite history was born in 1825 when, after a long search throughout New England, Solomon Willard found West Quincy as the source of stones in the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. thanks to his development of specialized construction techniques he made hard Quincy granite a more practical building stone.

The Quincy Granite Railway was established in 1826. To carry stone form the quarries, Gridley Bryant was the engineer behind it all its and many of his inventions  still being used now. For 140 years, over fifty quarries
operated in Quincy, which became known
nationwide as “The Granite City”

Quincy granite was highly valued for its properties. The last active quarry closed in 1963.

There is still a section of one of the main quarries you can visit that has been turned into a historical site, my parents used to tell stories of it being filled with water and people swimming in it but i only saw it later in the 2000’s after it had already been filled in  and what is left of the rocks and cliffs and now it has been covered in amazing graffiti art and covered head to toe by rocklimbing graffiti artists that you might see there if you go.

in 2022 the Bunker Hill Monument Still stands! We were even honored to help provide chairs for a naturalization ceremony  ran by the parks department at the Bunker Hill Monument on flag day where over 50 Immigrants became US Citizens!

The Company was started in 2021 by Brett and Zach, two best friends from the south shore and we grew up together in a small town called Marshfield. This company was made by locals, for locals. Thats why we try to make everything as straightforward as possible with no surprises or hidden fees which is why setup, delivery and  taxes are included into our pricing. We took our time designing our packages to include everything you need to make a headache free planning process. We want to save you that precious time you might spend with other companies getting quotes and checking the fine print when you should only be busy enjoying your event!

Quincy MA qualifies for Free delivery for all our tents and party packages since its within 30 miles of our hometown Quincy Ma! It’s $4 every mile over the first 30.

Dance Floor Rental Info:

We offer beautiful dark maple Dance floors that can be used outside or indoors, but if installed outdoors they must be under a tent. They just need a relatively flat surface click the image above for more details and info on sizing!

Our cancellation policy for Milton is the same as all towns, as long as you cancel more than 14 days from your event you will receive full refund.
